Bill Cosby's trial declared a mistrial

The 12 jurors were unable to come to a unanimous decision beyond a reasonable doubt after six days of deliberations.

Bill Cosby exits the Montgomery County Courthouse after a mistrial in his sexual assault case in Norristown, Pa., Saturday, June 17, 2017. But prosecutors immediately said they would seek a second trial, which O'Neill suggested could start within four months.

He remains free on bail pending the new trial. None of the jurors commented after the trial ended and headed home to the Pittsburgh area, some 300 miles (nearly 500 km) from the courthouse outside Philadelphia.

Currently, seven women have defamation suits pending in MA, while three more have defamation or sexual battery suits pending in California.

But the same judge Cosby's wife Camille called "arrogant" in a scathing statement after the mistrial was declared Saturday near Philadelphia is likely to preside over his retrial.

Excoriated by the defense for charging Cosby in the first place, District Attorney Kevin Steele vowed to put him on trial a second time, saying accuser Andrea Constand supported the decision.

The comedian also faces a defamation lawsuit by model Janice Dickinson, who claims Cosby drugged and raped her in Lake Tahoe, California, in 1982.

After the verdict, Cosby by sat alone - off to the side and all but overlooked - clutching his cane to his chest and staring silently into the distance.

He co-starred in the 1960s espionage show "I Spy", the first black performer to star in a weekly American TV dramatic series.

The criminal case against Cosby partly stems from the accuser's related civil lawsuit a decade ago.

Virginians to determine ballot for governor, among other races
Virginia does not require voters to register by party affiliation, but voters will have to choose one party's ballot at the poll. A victory for Northam would be an affirmation of the power of Democratic establishment that's backed him, including Sens.

The jurors clearly struggled with their verdict, telling the judge Thursday they were at impasse.

Cosby's defense lawyers, however, argued that Constand's account could not be trusted after they pointed to numerous discrepancies in her statements to police in 2005, when she first reported the encounter, which occurred almost a year earlier.

Constand, now 44, initially went to police about a year after she said Cosby assaulted her, but a prosecutor declared her case too weak to bring charges.

Poulin says the District Attorney's decision to retry the case was to be expected.

Cosby is being sued in Los Angeles by Judy Huth, who accuses the comedian of forcing her to perform a sex act on him in a bedroom of the Playboy Mansion around 1974, when she was 15.

But the panel returned yesterday to tell the judge they were still deadlocked on all three counts. Without that courage there will be more victims.

He reminded prosecutors and the defense that "a mistrial is neither vindication nor victory for anybody". "Once people say they are deadlocked, then what really becomes the reason for further deliberations?" How do I describe the counsels for the accusers?

Callan said the $33.5 million awarded in the case reflected the jury's reaction to a double homicide and was larger than a potential award to someone who has civil claims against Cosby.

He was eventually charged in December 2015, just days before the statute of limitations was set to expire.

Cosby has said any sexual activity was consensual.
