Who can solve Kashmir issue? CM Mehbooba Mufti says 'only PM Modi'

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi alone can help the people of the state in the ongoing troubling circumstances.

Jammu and Kashmir CM Mehbooba Mufti said "The prime minister has an intention of holding talks after the situation becomes normal". "The nation will support whatever he decides", she said. He went to Lahore and met Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.

As for Mehbooba reaching out to the PM, the differences between the BJP and PDP remain despite a high-level meeting between her and Modi in New Delhi last month. She said with the addition of more vehicles on roads, issues of parking, routes and road management are becoming more pressing for civic authorities with each passing year. However, BJP has skipped talking with to Pakistan or to Kashmir separatists. Governor NN Vohra also met the prime minister and informed him about the law and order situation in the state.

Mehbooba Mufti hailed PM Modi's Lahore visit as a "sign of strength" while saying that former PM Manmohan Singh wanted to visit Pakistan but couldn't muster courage. She said the city has a good treasure of forts and monuments which have the potential of attracting heritage lovers to the city and added her Government is working towards that.

Speaking at the inauguration of a much-awaited flyover in Jammu, the chief minister said, "If anyone can take us out of this quagmire, then it is Prime Minister Narendra Modi". She pointed out that militancy in Kashmir had declined during that period and there was peace on the border.

She said Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and Atal Bihari Vajpayee had improved the relations between India and Pakistan, which were again disturbed due to the "lack of initiative" by the previous governments. Blaming the then UPA government at the Centre and the state government for not carrying forward the dialogue, she said, "There was pent-up lava and it started to come out during the street protests in 2008, 2009 and 2010".

The NC said that the Chief Minister's continued and unconditional loyalty to the BJP and the Prime Minister in light of her declaration that Modi was Kashmir's "only hope" despite the Central government's refusal to even acknowledge the political nature of the Kashmir issue her "sycophancy is unbecoming and has denigrated the sanctity of the J&K Chief Minister's office".

To a question, the BJP leader said that the National Democratic Alliance government is more success full than the United Progressive Alliance government in tackling the activities of Maoists.
