Wenger 'sad' for Adams 'paper bag' jibe

Arsene Wenger has been praising Everton striker Romelu Lukaku ahead of his Arsenal side hosting the Toffees in their final Premier League game of the season on Sunday.

After an appalling run of results of two wins in eight Premier League matches between January 31st and April 10th, Arsenal seemed all but out of the top four race.

"The most lovely football is in Europe in the Champions League and that is a target for the team and our club for next season".

"One of them is, of course, what is happening with the manager, the future, the players who have to come in, the renewal of contracts".

"I think what is the most important for us is to win the football game we play on Sunday", he said.

Arsene Wenger has fired back at Tony Adams, describing the criticism from his former captain as "sad" and aiming his own dig at the Arsenal legend's performance as Granada coach.

The England star should be fit for next week's FA Cup final with Jeff Reine-Adelaide and Santi Cazorla long-term absentees.

"Overall, I think first of all they are under contract and secondly they behave like they want to be in the Champions League and like they want to be at the club".

Monaco coach Jardim staying cautious amid title euphoria
Normally such a reserved character, Jardim jumped off the bench and pumped his fist vigorously as he shuffled along the touchline. A point on Wednesday at home against Saint-Etienne, however, would guarantee the title and should have Jardim smiling at last.

Despite winning six of their last seven games, Arsenal are in fifth place, one point behind fourth placed Liverpool and three adrift of third placed City.

Liverpool will host already-relegated Middlesbrough and Manchester City travel to Watford, who languish 16th in the standings. "I have a good record against Arsenal". He is said to love the city - he famously chose Arsenal over Liverpool in 2014 for precisely that reason - and wants to stay in the capital, seemingly regardless of which club he plays for.

"Actually in the original draft, I said he couldn't coach his way out of a paper bag".

The usual promises are seemingly set to be made in that Arsenal will significantly strengthen the squad knowing that they risk falling further behind their direct rivals, but it remains to be seen whether or not that plan is executed after Wenger has penned his new deal. Because all the players, at some stage, they decide to leave, when their interest was to leave.

Pressed on whether it would be his last game ever in north London he replied: "I can not tell you that".

"We have to do our job, we are professionals".

The post Arsenal: My future'll be decided after our FA Cup final clash with Chelsea - Wenger appeared first on Vanguard News. "Much as I respected him for his long and successful tenure, my occasional willingness to pass comment on him and the team probably counted against me", Adams wrote in the book.
