Sega Wants to Revive 'Major IPs'

In addition to the exhumation of some older IPs, SEGA has also made expanding existing IPs and challenging for new IPs a major focus going forward, as well as more "effective utilization of development engines". However, the company is no mood of stopping here as Sega plans to continue to create moving experiences and plans to release big hits for consoles. A total of 10.28 million game units released by Sega were sold during the fiscal year, with the release of Persona 5 and Total War: Warhammer helping the company's good fortunes.

As reported by Gematsu, Sega reported on a roadmap to investors on what it wants to do in the near future.

Nigeria presidency releases names of freed Chibok girls
Its insurgency has killed more than 20,000 people and driven 2.6 million from their homes, with millions facing starvation. Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhar has expressed joy at meeting the 82 girls, as he shared photos of them on social media.

This information was revealed in Sega's "Road to 2020" presentation document which the company released at the end of the latest fiscal year. It has been a very long time since Sega was a major name for gaming fans. The recent PC re-release of Bayonetta and the upcoming release of Vanquish on that same platform suggests that Sega is already interested in looking at ways to revive their publisher back catalog.

What do you think of Sega's lofty goals of global hits and reviving major IPs? Unfortunately for us, Sega didn't get into which franchises it would look to revive, but we can take a few guesses based on what's been popular in the past. These titles include Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War III, Total Warhammer II and Sonic Forces.
