Romanian carmaker Dacia halts production after global cyber attack

Renault, France's leading vehicle manufacturer, on Saturday said it had been a target of a major cyber attack that forced the group to suspend productions at its sites. Carmakers have not been spared, and those affected include alliance partners Renault and Nissan, which had to halt production at factories.

French carmaker Renault expects to be able to resume normal production on Monday in the factories that were hit by a global cyber attack, a spokesman said.

Deutsche Bahn said it had deployed extra staff to busy stations to assist customers after its arrival and departure display screens went down on Friday night, although there was no impact on actual train services.

"We're seeking to have a global vision to see which sites have been affected", she added.

In the United Kingdom, the ransomware made headlines on Friday when it disrupted Britain's National Health Service.

Earlier Saturday, the spokeswoman had said the problems were mainly related to France, and had also affected the company's IT systems.

Friday's wave of cyberattacks, which affected dozens of countries, apparently exploited a flaw exposed in documents leaked from the US National Security Agency.
