Motorola Moto Android tablet leaks with 'Productivity Mode'

Motorola Moto Android tablet leaks with 'Productivity Mode'

There's no word from Motorola as well about the existence of any such device.

A latest report from Android Police suggests that Motorola is now busy working on an Android tablet. The report however does mention that the Android tablet will have a Productivity mode, that will allow users to switch between apps by simply tapping on the app icon in the navigation bar. While long thought to be dead, Android tablets are having something of a renaissance in 2017, with Samsung releasing the Galaxy Tab S3 and Google changing up the way its Pixel C tablet operates, and Moto's feature is another way tablets are adapting to the changing times.

We'll update you if we get to hear anything more about the tablet.

Productivity mode is an enhanced version of the traditional multi-window mode, which was introduced by the latest Android 7.0 Nougat. Long pressing the app icon and dragging it upwards will close the app.

If you're a Motorola fan and been holding onto that Xoom before updating, your wishes may be coming true with a new rumour emerging that Motorola is working on a new large screen tablet. However, it appears that the software takes a lot of inspiration from parent company Lenovo's tablets.

The big picture: While it remains to be seen if people will ever want to buy a premium Android tablet, this is exactly the kind of thing that Android tablets need.

Motorola would also have to nail the price to truly entice shoppers, since Android productivity apps are now available on many Chromebooks, making them an increasingly attractive alternative for those interested in an affordable and portable work machine. It is also probably that there will be multiple variants of the tablet and at least one of them will offer cellular connectivity.

Hopefully this mystery slate can do a little better if it ever comes to fruition, especially considering Android tablets are a bit of a dying breed these days.
