Mom dies saving daughter from out-of-control car on Mother's Day

The grief-stricken husband said he waited till Monday morning to finally tell his 16-year-old daughter that her mother died saving her because he was anxious about the teen's surgery.
Mother and daughter were struck Sunday by a Toyota Corolla that 80-year-old driver Ann Riolo had accidentally put in reverse as she was leaving a bakery in Lindenhurst.
Police said an elderly woman lost control of her vehicle and jumped the sidewalk.
'She saved her life, without a doubt'.
"Diane Aluska - who had three kids and worked for the town of Babylon in the clerk's office - pushed her youngest daughter from harm's way just in the nick of time, police said", New York Post reported. Aluska died at a West Islip hospital, while Jenna and Riolo were treated for minor injuries, police said. Jenna was injured but in stable condition.
WABC reports that Diane was pinned underneath the vehicle after the accident, and bystanders rushed to push the auto off Diane to rescue her.
As of Sunday night, Riolo has not been charged. Jenna Aluska and the driver taken to the same hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Diane shoved Jenna out of the way, taking the brunt of the collision herself. "She was everything to us.I can't put it into words". She was trying to back out of a diagonal parking space in her 2005 Toyota Corolla when she struck the pair, police said.
Jenna Aluska was still hospitalized Monday after spinal surgery.
The daughter was hurt but is expected to be OK, police told NBC 4 NY.
"I just told her her mother is dead".
'It appears to be non-criminal, just a awful accident, ' Sergeant Murphy said.
"Who the heck would want that to happen on Mother's Day", a neighbor told the Post.
