On Thursday (May 11), she showed fans the outcome of that journey, in a music video for her brand-new single dedicated to Liam titled "Malibu".

It seized the throne from Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee's "Despacito (featuring Justin Bieber)", which had ruled the chart since this past weekend.

Hours earlier, Cyrus revealed her excitement over the release of her first song in two years, telling her 32.3milliuon followers: "Tomorrow!"

Cyrus recently spoke to Billboard magazine about her break-up and subsequent reunion with The Hunger Games star saying they had to "re-fall for each other".

She is embracing a new way of life and love with Hemsworth and we are excited to see what Miley has in store for us next.

Cyrus said she wrote "Malibu" - singing to herself at low volume - while taking an Uber vehicle to the set of television singing contest "The Voice", where she is returning as a coach.

Her upcoming new album will feature more acoustic songs and melodies written by Cyrus, and will include a song for Hillary Clinton, whom she supported in last year's US presidential election, and another anthem dedicated to women in the workplace, Billboard said.

"I never came to the beach or stood by the ocean/I never sat by the shore under the sun with my feet in the sand but you brought me here", she sings. "So why not put the power back in my relationship and say, "This is how I feel"?"
