The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), which is embroiled in a revenue-sharing row with the International Cricket Council (ICC), announced the decision after a special general meeting in New Delhi. Find us on Facebook too!
The tournament begins on June 1.
With the BCCI and COA divided on whether India should pullout of the Champions Trophy after the ICC cut its financial wings by reworking the revenue model of the worldwide body, the letter came amid speculation that the BCCI was seriously mulling a pullout. The BCCI members had convened the meeting to decide on India's participation in the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy.
Coming to the details, it must be recalled that BCCI's earlier share of $571 million was conceded to $293 million with Australia not losing out on anything and England's loss being minimal, which means that India is the ultimate victim.
India missed the initial deadline of April 25 to name their squad - a date met by all other participating nations - but will face no sanction for the delay.
It was decided that no legal recourse will be taken against the ICC as dictated by the Committee of Administrators (COA).
The BCCI added in its statement: "The board unanimously authorised the acting honorary secretary of the BCCI to continue negotiations with the ICC in the best interest of the BCCI, while keeping its legal options open".
With the new revenue model getting the nod, BCCI will now have to do with what they have in the eight-year cycle. "The members were told that if they had any problem with the finance bit, they would have to take up the matter at the ICC's governance level", a state association member, who attended the meeting, said.
The committee headed by former Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) Vinod Rai has made a decision to accommodate the BCCI's concerns on three of the most contentious Lodha Committee recommendations and the Board has chose to drop its hostile stance towards COA.
