US President Trump's Approval Hits 50%

The poll found that only 45 percent of Americans believe Trump keeps his promises, down from 62 percent when Gallup asked the question in February. For the past three weeks, The Economist/YouGov poll has found that just 50 or 51 per cent of U.S. adults said Trump was either a "very strong" or "somewhat strong" leader in a question about leadership qualities, down from 61 per cent in the results after his inauguration. Less than 50% of the public think the president "can bring about changes this country needs" (46%), "cares about the needs of people like you" (42%), or "can manage the government effectively" (41%). Among those who do not approve of Trump, only 11 per cent say he keeps his promises - down from 35 per cent in February.

And while the overall approval ratings are ticking up, another Gallup poll shows Americans are still concerned about Trump.

The numbers mark an improvement for a president who has weathered historically low approval ratings.

Forty-five percent of Americans still see Trump as someone who keeps his promises, although 52% said that label does not apply.

After weeks of witnessing low approval ratings, President Donald Trump had reason to cheer Monday after Rasmussen Reports claimed that Trump's approval rating is at 50 percent.

The polling did, however, come amid Trump's decision to strike Syria militarily, which he authorized on April 6, shifting the stance he took in multiple tweets from 2013 and 2014 opposing such action in Syria.

These are not the numbers Trump wishes to see as he tries to sell his first 100 days as a success and push for momentum to see the scandals recede and his policy plans push forward.

While Trump's approval rating ― never especially strong to begin with ― has not decreased very significantly in Gallup's tracking since February, positive views of his personal traits clearly have. Marist's Friday poll had the billionaire at 39 percent approval, 49 percent disapproval. He lost ground with Democrats, independents, and Republicans.
