One killed as Class XII student celebrates last exam

A homeless man was killed and three others critically injured after a speeding vehicle mowed them down while they were sleeping on the pavement in central Delhi's Kashmere Gate area. The shocking incident took place at Kashmiri Gate in the national capital.

The victims appear to be daily wagers, the police said. "The driver claims he has turned 18 but we are verifying the documents", Jatin Narwal, DCP North of Delhi Police, said.

Three others who were critically injured, identified as Asif, Karan and Sanjay, have been admitted at the Sushruta Trauma Centre near Civil Lines. "His friends fled the scene after the accident", Narwal told IANS.

The victims were in sleep when the vehicle mounted the pavement.

Delhi Police on Thursday apprehended a teenager for mowing down four people near ISBT Kashmere Gate.A case has been registered under Section 304 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
