Knicks president Jackson: Carmelo Anthony would be better off somewhere else

Right now we need players who are really active can play every single play both offensively and defensively. "Sit down with my team, sit down with my family, really figure this out, kind of really put what's important to me at this point in my career, which is winning", Anthony told reporters after the game against the Sixers, via ESPN.

There were lots of questions about whether team president Phil Jackson's beloved triangle offense suited the team well.

It didn't take long for Anthony to respond to Jackson's latest comments concerning his future in NY as he took to Twitter to voice his reaction.

Jackson has drawn a ton of criticism for his handling of the Anthony situation over the past year, and this will only add more fodder to that.

"If somebody was talking bad about you indirectly at your job, what would you do?" he said. Begley reported that Anthony is "strongly leaning" toward waiving his no-trade clause this offseason if he's presented with a trade.

Anthony knows the Knicks might want to trade him and said Wednesday he thought before the deadline in February there was a chance he would be gone.

Jackson said he communicated with Anthony during the season after it became public that the Knicks were considering trading him, and after he said in an interview with CBSSports Network that Anthony holds the ball too much.

And in a news conference on Friday, former Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers coach Jackson suggested he is still set on parting with Anthony. Jackson would like to see him play in the post more often.

Carmelo Anthony wants to play for a victor.

Tension between Anthony and Jackson has been high this season.

"Everything has got to be possible", Jackson said, "And we have to make sure that if people have something to say we listen to it, we'll examine it".

He also said he doesn't regret re-signing Anthony. "It's just who he is. I think he had some concern this year about physical, not being able to stand up to all the games physically, achillies tendon, back, et cetera".

A distraught Kristaps Porzingis refused to meet with Phil Jackson and Steve Mills on Friday, according to a source. "Obviously, it hasn't worked out as a partnership".
