Storms, possible tornado today

Some of these storms may be strong to severe in nature this afternoon and this evening, and will be capable of producing large hail and damaging winds.

Today's topic is severe thunderstorms.

The severe weather window will be from about 4 p.m. until about 10 p.m. A brief isolated tornado is possible as well. Storms will develop along the dry line and generally move to the east.

Remaining portions of Arkansas are in a slight-risk category, meaning short-lived scattered storms could spring up.

NCAA tournament Midwest Region runback: Michigan State crushes Miami on Friday
Ward made his first six shots and finished 8 of 9 from the field, while Miles Bridges was 8 of 12 and added 18 points in the win. Derrick Walton Jr . had 26 points and 11 assists as MI held off Oklahoma State 92-91 in the Midwest Regional in Indianapolis.

Storms are expected to impact central Alabama from 1 p.m. until 9 p.m., according to the weather service in Birmingham.

The weather service said a smaller risk of hail and isolated wind damage extends as far south and east as Montgomery and Auburn. More widespread storms and a chance for severe weather comes back Wednesday.

But many people do not pay as much attention to a severe thunderstorm warning as a tornado warning, saying, "it's just a severe thunderstorm warning". At this point, it looks like that system will bring some stronger elements.

The weather service said it will be watching this system closely and will be refining its forecasts over the next few days.
