Got camera? Facebook adds more Snapchat-like features

Following the launch of the feature, which was first seen on Snapchat, later on Instagram, WhatsApp and Messenger now Mark Zuckerberg has incorporated "Story" on Facebook as well.

The camera app within the stories also borrows from Snapchat, allowing for masks, frames, and reactive effects to be added to the images and videos captured. This Facebook Direct inbox helps users to share photos and videos with one or more friends or promptly send a message in response to friends' stories.

Apart from this story feature, Facebook also introduced a new in-app camera having multiple filters for a photograph, something similar to Instagram.

The photos or videos that are part of Facebook's story will be visible for 24 hours, but will not display it on anyone's timeline or news feed, unless that user has specifically posted it there.

These filters and camera effects will be available to users from the moment they open the camera in the Facebook app.

Google announces strategy to address concerns of ad misplacement and brand safety
Several high profile companies have followed suit since, including Channel 4, HSBC, Marks and Spencer, Audi , RBS and L'Oreal. Google allocates adverts against content using its automated advertising systems, free from human judgement.

Facebook is also including guest art from visual artists like Douglas Coupland and Hattie Stewart, who will create in the camera to give users new effects to explore.

Also, in Facebook Stories you can record videos of up to 20 seconds, unlike Snapchat which can record videos of up to 10 seconds.

Facebook has relentlessly been copying some of Snapchat's core features across several of its products. The pics and videos that are sent directly to friends disappear after they've been viewed and can be replayed once. With today's announcement about Facebook Stories and new camera effects, we're not sure if there's a difference between the two.

You can download Facebook from the App Store for free. Before, if you were in the Facebook app you wouldn't be able to see that you had chats waiting for you but the Chat icon has been redesigned and added it. Once the receiver views the content, it is removed by Direct after the conversation is over. Once you're on the camera screen, you can snap a photo or a video and play around with it using Facebook's camera features that include filters and screens.
